hi everyone,
I dunno who still reads this but i figure i can blog a little and tell everyone what's been going on in Zambia. It's been a really tiring week for the whole team and we aren't sure why that is. There is this extreme tiredness that has overtaken our team and sickness is spreading through but I know that God is good and that this is nothing to worry about.
We are now done with deciding where our ministries and have been focusing on our areas of ministry for about a week now. I am working with street children who most have no parents or anyone who is willing to take care of them. These children suffer from HIV, STD's, TB, Malaria and any other disease you can think of. These children live day in and day out not knowing whether they will have food or not. They live day in and day out not knowing whether they will come out of the day without getting a beating from police or bigger street kids. My focus recently has been at a drop in center called Chisomo. Chisomo is a place that the kids can feel safe and just be kids. They get 2 meals a day there and play games, do bible studies, and just act like kids. The street life is very difficult and chisomo is a place that they can relax. I have been goign every day there, playing with the kids and showing them that i care. Most of these children have never had anyone be there for them when they needed someone.
Next week, i will be doing a night street walk which i am excited about and also dreading. I dread this becuase i have not fully realized what kind of a life these children have to suffer through. Many of these children use inhalents at night to keep warm and to escape from the life they are living.Others are raped by bigger boys or are beaten up for their money and I will have an oppertunity to see this first hand. Next thursday will be my first oppertunity to go see the lives these children live. I did not have an oppertunity before becuase it was illegal for us to be on the streets due to the police trying to stop child trafficing.
Anywyaz... just wanted to tell whoever reads this a little about what's been going on here in Africa. I hope that everyone is doing well. God bless.... see you all when i get home.
